Thaitsuki Sanmai Swords
Sanmai blades utilize a traditional method of Japanese sword making established centuries ago. Sanmai steel is created when two types of steel, in this case high carbon and a softer outer steel, have been forged together to create a single blade. The soft folded steel has 1024 layers and is folded over a harder steel edge with a hardness of 40-60 HRC. This allows these Thaitsuki swords to hold their edge incredibly well while remaining durable with continued use.
The process of folding steel increases the hardness of the edge while maintaining greater durability throughout the rest of the blade. A higher carbon content within steel that is used for the edge of blade makes it harder than the steel folded over it. If the entire sword were hard however, it increases the chance it could be damaged with a lot of use. These folded steel swords from Thaisuki are incredibly strong and are unrivaled in their beauty. Each of these Thaitsuki swords have been handmade, making no two sanmai blades exactly alike.
These authentic Thaitsuki Nihonto swords are hand forged using a traditional Japanese forging process. These are not replicas but actual samurai swords. You will receive a certificate of authenticity from the manufacturer with your purchase, allowing you to trace the sword back to when and where it was made.
