Before CAS Hanwei began to introduce their European reproductions, many of these traditional styles of blades were not as easily available to the public. It has been twenty years since Paul Chen decided to become a full-time manufacturer of knives and swords. His company, CAS Hanwei, has been producing high quality Japanese swords since its formation in 1993. When production by Paul Chen first began, he was making knives and related components for other companies. CAS Hanwei would expand immediately as Paul Chen began training additional sword-makers and offering a wider array of knives and swords to the public.
It was with Samurai swords that Paul Chen would gain notoriety. This would be his first real sword experience and would remain his company's most popular product. Paul Chen swords are high quality and regarded by many as state of the art, yet one would never know it from the price tag. Martial artists all over the world were suddenly able to afford fine weaponry. By the end of the 90s they would be introducing many other swords into their line, such as traditional styles from Europe. They are forged with the same prestige and detail that has made CAS Hanwei and Paul Chen famous.
