Kershaw Teal Leek - 1660TEAL
Made in the USA

Kershaw Leeks have been top sellers since they were first introduced. But because they're so popular, lots of people want a Leek they can call their own, in a color or finish they really like. So Kershaw is happy to introduce a brand new color so that you can have the Leek you've always wanted. This one is a bright teal.

Like all Leeks, this one features a blade of Sandvik 14C28N high-performance stainless steel. The task-ready 3-in., blade is a modified drop-point shape that offers good slicing capabilities, while the slim tip makes it great for piercing and detail work. The blade comes razor sharp out of the box and holds its edge well, too.

The brilliant teal color is applied to the anodized aluminum handle. The color is a fade-resistant, scratch-resistant dye that's permanently bonded to the aluminum, so it looks good now, and looks good later, too. But color isn't the only benefit of anodizing, the process strengthens the aluminum as well.

SpeedSafe equipped, this teal Leek is fast and easy to open left- or right-handed thanks to the ambidextrous flipper or thumbstud. For safety, a locking liner keeps the blade locked open during use and a Tip-Lock slider locks it closed when folded. The pocketclip can be configured for tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is drilled to accept a lanyard.

Features of the Kershaw Teal Leek 1660TEAL

Blade Material: Sandvik 14C28N Steel
Kershaw worked with Sandvik Steel, one of the world's leading manufacturers of stainless steel and special alloys, to produce this high-performance steel. Increased nitrogen in the formula enables 14C28N to provide both excellent corrosion resistance and the ability to be hardened to 58-60 Rockwell. Sandvik calls 14C28N the overall highest performing knife steel in the world that still maintains the productivity benefit of being fine-blankable.

Blade Finish: Bead-Blasted
The knife blade is "blasted" or sprayed with a mixture of fine media, including glass and aluminum oxide beads, under high speed and pressure. This smooths the blade surface and creates a soft, non-reflective, matte look. Depending on the media, this finish can produce a darker or a lighter blade color.

Handle Material: 6061-T6 Teal Anodized Aluminum
Anodizing makes aluminum stronger and enables Kershaw to add scratch and fade resistant color to knife handles.

SpeedSafe
SpeedSafe is a patented system that assists the user to smoothly open any SpeedSafe knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or pull back on the blade protrusion. SpeedSafe is built into many of Kershaw's best-selling knives.

Flipper
May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.

Liner Lock
The most common of today's blade-locking systems. The handle consists of two metal plates (the "liner") on either side of the blade. When the knife is opened, one side of the knife's liner, often called the lockbar, butts up against the backend of the blade (the tang) and prevents the blade from closing. The lockbar is manufactured so that it angles toward the interior of the knife, creating a bias for the locked position. To close the knife, the knife user applies manual force to move the lockbar to the side so that the blade is unblocked and can be folded back into the handle. The liner lock provides a secure and convenient way to make using a Kershaw folding knife even safer.

Tip-Lock
The tip-lock is a simple slider that, when engaged, ensures the blade will not accidentally open. It's especially helpful in cases where the knife might be juggled in a briefcase, backpack, or purse.

Reversible Pocketclip - Tip-Up/Tip-Down
A reversible pocketclip enables the user to position the clip for either knife tip-up or tip-down carry.

Made in the USA
This knife is made in Kershaw's Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.
