Kershaw Purple Scallion - 1620PUR
Made in the USA

Yeah. It's purple. Not only purple, but awesomely purple.

The Scallion is already one of Kershaw's most popular knives, but they thought they'd step it up for 2013 by giving this Scallion some great-looking, jeweltone purple handle scales. The oh-so-handy 2 1/4-inch blade stays the same, ensuring that the purple Scallion is right-sized for lightweight and convenient carry in pocket, purse, or backpack.

The blade steel is high-carbon stainless steel that gives you good edge retention and excellent corrosion resistance. They've bead-blasted the blade to give it a soft, matte look and make it easier to maintain, too. Whether you're left-handed or right-handed, the Scallion is quick and easy to open thanks to SpeedSafe assisted opening and the Scallion's ambidextrous flipper. Just pull back on the flipper or push on the thumbstud and the blade moves out of the handle, ready for use. The Scallion's handle scales are anodized aluminum over steel liners. Anodizing enables the aluminum to take that eye-popping purple color and helps them resist scratching. Even better, anodizing actually strengthens the aluminum so you get a handle that's strong, lightweight, and colorful.

For safety, the purple Scallion has a locking liner to keep it locked safely open and a Tip-Lock to keep it locked safely closed during transport. If you've been waiting for a more colorful Scallion, the purple Scallion just may be the ticket.

Features of the Kershaw Purple Scallion 1620PUR

Blade Material: 420HC Steel
This modified 420 steel has higher amounts of carbon and chromium to boost hardenability and corrosion resistance. It is an excellent everyday steel: tough, corrosion resistant, easy to sharpen and takes a good edge.

Blade Finish: Bead-Blasted
The knife blade is "blasted" or sprayed with a mixture of fine media, including glass and aluminum oxide beads, under high speed and pressure. This smooths the blade surface and creates a soft, non-reflective, matte look. Depending on the media, this finish can produce a darker or a lighter blade color.

Handle Material: 6061-T6 Purple Anodized Aluminum
Anodizing makes aluminum stronger and enables Kershaw to add scratch and fade resistant color to knife handles.

SpeedSafe
SpeedSafe is a patented system that assists the user to smoothly open any SpeedSafe knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or pull back on the blade protrusion. SpeedSafe is built into many of Kershaw's best-selling knives.

Flipper
May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.

Liner Lock
The most common of today's blade-locking systems. The handle consists of two metal plates (the "liner") on either side of the blade. When the knife is opened, one side of the knife's liner, often called the lockbar, butts up against the backend of the blade (the tang) and prevents the blade from closing. The lockbar is manufactured so that it angles toward the interior of the knife, creating a bias for the locked position. To close the knife, the knife user applies manual force to move the lockbar to the side so that the blade is unblocked and can be folded back into the handle. The liner lock provides a secure and convenient way to make using a Kershaw folding knife even safer.

Tip-Lock
The tip-lock is a simple slider that, when engaged, ensures the blade will not accidentally open. It's especially helpful in cases where the knife might be juggled in a briefcase, backpack, or purse.

Single-Position Pocketclip
The pocketclip is in a fixed position on the knife handle. Usually it is positioned for tip-down, right-handed carry, though this may vary. You can remove the clip completely, if you prefer.

Made in the USA
This knife is made in Kershaw's Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.
