Kershaw Navy Blue Scallion - 1620NB
Made in the USA

One of Kershaw's newest Scallions is wearing a coat of navy blue or, as some of the people at Kershaw call it, "shop coat blue." If you're looking to carry a pocketknife with a little color, but not too much, this new Scallion might be the one for you.

Apart from its new medium-blue handle scales, this Scallion shares features with the rest of the Scallion family. It has a compact, yet effective 2 1/4-inch blade, so it's the perfect size for pocket carry. The smaller blade takes on just about any task, but rates low on the intimidation factor. And at just 2.5 ounces, it won't weigh your pocket down either.

The Scallion's high-carbon stainless steel blade offers good edge retention and excellent corrosion resistance. The bead-blasted finish gives the blade a matte look and it's easy to maintain, too. The navy blue Scallion is easy to open when you need it, too, thanks to its SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism. With SpeedSafe, you just pull back on the ambidextrous flipper or push on the thumbstud and the blade moves out of the handle, ready for use. The navy blue Scallion's handle scales are anodized aluminum over steel liners. Anodizing not only enables the aluminum to take a scratch resistant color, but it actually strengthens the aluminum.

For safety, the navy blue Scallion has a locking liner to keep it locked safely open and a Tip-Lock to keep it locked safely closed during transport. Whether you're a first-time Scallion owner or want to grow your collection, you're going to like this one.

Features of the Kershaw Navy Blue Scallion 1620NB

Blade Material: 420HC Steel
This modified 420 steel has higher amounts of carbon and chromium to boost hardenability and corrosion resistance. It is an excellent everyday steel: tough, corrosion resistant, easy to sharpen and takes a good edge.

Blade Finish: Bead-Blasted
The knife blade is "blasted" or sprayed with a mixture of fine media, including glass and aluminum oxide beads, under high speed and pressure. This smooths the blade surface and creates a soft, non-reflective, matte look. Depending on the media, this finish can produce a darker or a lighter blade color.

Handle Material: 6061-T6 Navy Blue Anodized Aluminum
Anodizing makes aluminum stronger and enables Kershaw to add scratch and fade resistant color to knife handles.

SpeedSafe
SpeedSafe is a patented system that assists the user to smoothly open any SpeedSafe knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or pull back on the blade protrusion. SpeedSafe is built into many of Kershaw's best-selling knives.

Flipper
May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.

Liner Lock
The most common of today's blade-locking systems. The handle consists of two metal plates (the "liner") on either side of the blade. When the knife is opened, one side of the knife's liner, often called the lockbar, butts up against the backend of the blade (the tang) and prevents the blade from closing. The lockbar is manufactured so that it angles toward the interior of the knife, creating a bias for the locked position. To close the knife, the knife user applies manual force to move the lockbar to the side so that the blade is unblocked and can be folded back into the handle. The liner lock provides a secure and convenient way to make using a Kershaw folding knife even safer.

Tip-Lock
The tip-lock is a simple slider that, when engaged, ensures the blade will not accidentally open. It's especially helpful in cases where the knife might be juggled in a briefcase, backpack, or purse.

Single-Position Pocketclip
The pocketclip is in a fixed position on the knife handle. Usually it is positioned for tip-down, right-handed carry, though this may vary. You can remove the clip completely, if you prefer.

Made in the USA
This knife is made in Kershaw's Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.
